Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information thathistoryguy.co.uk collects, why, and what your rights are. It was last updated on 17 June 2026.
Who is responsible for your data?
The data controller for this website is Lauresco Ltd (the company behind Woodfarm Barns), Wood Farm House, Stonham Road, Crowfield, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP6 9TH. You can contact us about your data by emailing carl@woodfarmbarns.com.
What do we collect, and why?
We only collect what we need for the few things this site does.
- Newsletter signup. If you subscribe, we collect your email address (and your name if you give it) and store it in Mailchimp so we can send you our newsletter. We rely on your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Media enquiry and contact form. If you use the form, we collect your name, email address, the programme or outlet you mention, and your message, so Carl can reply. These go to carl@woodfarmbarns.com and are stored in the website so we have a record of the enquiry.
- Website analytics. With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager to understand how the site is used. This is only switched on if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner.
- Server logs. Our host, WP Engine, keeps standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and to keep the site running.
Who do we share it with?
We do not sell your data. We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site: Mailchimp for the newsletter, Google for analytics and tag management, and WP Engine for hosting. Each processes data on our behalf under its own privacy terms.
How long do we keep it?
We keep enquiry messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s settings.
What are your rights?
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to ask for it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email carl@woodfarmbarns.com.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
